Network Engineer – 6-month contract position (Boise/Twin Falls)

Position Summary

This is a six (6) month contracted position.  The Network Engineer will assist in the design, configuration, and support of service provider network. Five or more years of experience in implementing, managing, or supporting Cisco and/or Juniper infrastructure is required. Experience with OSPF, MPLS technologies and BGP are required. Previous service provider experience is required. Position will be in our Boise &/or Twin Falls Idaho location.  Position reports to the Director of Network Services. 


Position Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the organizations mission statement and goals by providing the highest quality of service, treating each person professionally, with warmth, courtesy and respect, cross-selling additional services, and making a personal effort to make customers feel they belong and are important to Fatbeam
  • Has the ability to work with or create a network IP schema both IPv4 and IPv6
  • Configuration of network equipment to design specifications
  • Troubleshooting experience and ability to think around potential problems
  • Physical installation and testing of network equipment to design specifications
  • Effectively communication with our project managers and customers during all phases of projects
  • Provides mentorship for less experienced members of the team
  • Completes documentation as the project progresses
  • Actively participates in internal and external meetings
  • Ability to support network on 24x7 as problems get escalated or upgrades needed
  • Other duties may be assigned as deemed applicable
  • Regional travel at 20-30% overall is expected

Education and/or Experience, Certificates, Licenses Registrations

  • Required five (5) or more years of strong experience with installing, managing, and supporting Cisco and/or Juniper hardware network infrastructure in the service provider space
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in an IT related major is desired
  • Two or more years’ experience working with Microsoft Visio
  • Active CCNP or equivalent highly desired

Other Skills/Abilities

  • Has the ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, timelines, correspondence, and other business documents such as proposals and design specifications
  • Effective written and verbal communications are an integral part of this position
  • Has the ability to lift to 30 pounds on a regular basis.  This position requires the ability to sit or stand still for extended periods of time.  Will be working in a Microsoft Office environment on a constant basis.
  • Superior technical skills, people skills and a great attitude are a must. Preference will be given to those with broad experience in implementing Cisco multi-service networks, dynamic routing protocols and MPLS experience.

OSP Technician (Laborer/Operator) (Boise, ID)

The position of the OSP Technician (Laborer/Operator), is to provide manual labor and support services for our aerial/underground network construction and network maintenance work. This position will be in our Boise, Idaho area.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree
  • Be willing to travel out of area for weeks at a time
  • Dependable, flexibility to work weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced high volume work environment
  • Work independently under minimal supervision
  • Lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
  • Clean driving record 
  • Excellent verbal, written, phone, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for project build process
  • Must pass pre-employment Drug Testing; UI Test (urinalysis)
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License required (or the ability to obtain within 90 days)
  • Flagger Certified desirable for field work as needed
  • Experience with heavy digging equipment preferred
  • Needs to have heavy equipment/directional drill operating experience required

Entry Level Telecommunications Lineman (Coeur d’Alene ID)

Position Summary

The position of an experienced Lineman is to provide manual labor and support overall services for our aerial/underground network construction and network maintenance work. This position will be in our Coeur d’Alene Idaho area.

Responsibilities for Lineman

  • Services may include placing poles, anchors and guys, aerial strand and cable, direct buried pipe, trenching cable, conventional and directional boring, placing underground conduit systems, performing inside wiring, cabling, and testing and maintenance services
  • All phases of telecommunication construction include but are not limited to: Loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal and placement of various types, sizes and weight of construction materials and equipment
  • Install and repair aerial telecommunications cable
  • Safely use hand tools and equipment such as; wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, saws, lashers, climbing hooks, and more
  • Safely operate mechanized equipment such as; bucket trucks, digger derrick, excavators, and more
  • Setting up safety perimeter using signage, cones, safety barriers
  • Flagging traffic when required
  • This is a full-time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week
  • This position operates in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including; extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to safely work aloft using climbing hooks and ladders
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Possess a valid driver’s license or be eligible and willing to obtain the required license for the position
  • A good driving record is required
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to hand tools and equipment in a safe manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc
  • Willing and able to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to climb telephone poles and work in a bucket truck and work aloft and climb poles up to 40 feet
  • Able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed with or without assistance
  • The employee will need to have the ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 12 hours at a time), tolerate work in extreme weather conditions, speak and hear worksite safety instructions, withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching and feeling, crouching, and crawling
  • The employee will need to be able to regularly lift 75 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Applicants are required to pass all company drug testing, submit to a background check and adhere to all OSHA, state, city/municipality safety requirements and training provided by the company as required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Four-year lineman apprenticeship
  • CPR and First aid certification
  • Hilti gun, and forklift certification
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Commercial driver’s license (CDL) with tanker and airbrake certification
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Able to work under mildly safe and uncomfortable conditions where exposure to environmental factors such as temperature variations, odors, and toxic agents
  • Able to pull up loads of up to 100 pounds
  • Able to exert heavy physical effort in moderate to heavy work
  • Be willing to travel out of area for weeks at a time
